June '07 saw Marti taking part in the Midsummer Magic event with a gig planned at Lincoln Castle on 23rd. Due to bad weather and licensing problems, Lincolnshire county Council took the decision to cancel the gig on 22nd. However, Marti did not want to let his fans down and he asked the council to find an alternative venue. Initially there were fears that a suitable venue was not available but the gig thankfully went ahead after all at The Engine Shed - a Lincoln University venue.
After the threat of cancellation, the crowd's anticipation and excitement seemed heightened, now they knew they would see the show! The show was opened by King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys - a rhythm and blues band with a great sense of humour! When Marti took to the stage the crowd went crazy! They were treated to a high energy performance and a superb set list which consisted of a good mix of Marti's solo songs, Wets songs, covers, two jazz numbers and a fabulous new song called Are You In The Mood!
Set List -
Marti had his audience in the palm of his hand and apart from the new song, they sang along with every note. The atmosphere was electric!! Marti thanked everyone for coming along and he thanked everyone involved with rearranging the gig. It was all over too quickly, the show ending with an excellent rendition of Love Is All Around. Everyone went home happy – very pleased that Marti had ensured that the show would go on and delighted by his fabulous performance!
